Rehome's Helen Lord on the benefits Rehome Plus can offer KBB retailers
Following the launch of Rehome Plus, Rehome co-founder Helen Lord reveals how joining helps retailers to boost footfall, accelerate sales and give customers a more sustainable way to upgrade their homes.
Q: What is Rehome Plus in a nutshell?
A: Rehome Plus is the UK’s first, free to join affiliate referral gateway for pre-owned kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms, delivering an immediate, sustainability-driven, cash based solution for customers' pre-owned items, whilst delivering a timely, point-of-sale waste solution with a cash referral fee for the recommender.
It provides the opportunity for showrooms to effectively offer a trade-in solution for their customers. A solution which could be the difference between purchasing a new kitchen or not. A trade-in option offers customers cash towards their new renovation - potentially even a deposit for their new kitchen. Rehome Plus is another way to drive footfall to your business and drive truly incremental sales.
The Rehome Plus team are happy to work with you on integrated marketing communications to drive further awareness and ultimately interest in your showrooms offering when buying a new kitchen.
Q: Who is Rehome Plus For?
A: Kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms retailers, interior designers, and architects who want to refer clients planning a new kitchen or interior space to a fully managed route for selling the existing one; to delight their customers with a cash return and help meet their own sustainability ambition. Rehome Plus works directly with the homeowner end-to-end.
Ultimately Rehome Plus is for anyone who operates in the home interiors industry. We offer the opportunity to provide a clearance service to remove an existing home interior product to make way for a new one. So therefore, a national chain selling home interiors will benefit just as much as a self-employed interior designer or architect.
Rehome Plus rewards all those involved with a cash payment and sustainability benefits for business and another cash and sustainable benefits for the homeowner selling their interiors.
Q: What’s different vs using Rehome as a consumer?
A: Rehome Plus is an industry referral scheme only and bypasses the Rehome sales site. Rehome Plus is a technology based gateway that automatically recognises a referral for easy tracking and follow up. Even if a client doesn’t complete their project with the showroom, the referral still stands.
The referral scheme does not negatively impact the consumer vs. using Rehome directly. Therefore, they will receive the same commission and service upon selling via Rehome or Rehome Plus.
Q: Who does the dismantle/removal?
A: Rehome Plus has Which? Trusted Trader removal teams who have the relevant trade qualifications to carry out protected removal, packing and transport, all of which is coordinated by Rehome Plus within showroom timescales.
Having compiled thousands of complex and straightforward removals the removals and delivery team is well versed in delivering service quality. Our team will also onward deliver the kitchen or fitted home interiors to its new owner.
With many years of experience and facing just about every challenge that comes with dismantling a pre-loved kitchen, a seller can be confident in Rehome Plus delivering the best possible result for both the buyer and seller.
Q: Liability & insurance – who’s responsible when?
A: Rehome Plus removal team carries public liability/appropriate insurances for the dismantle and transit phases; responsibilities are confirmed in writing before work begins.
Q: What can/can’t be traded in?
A: Most fitted kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and fitted furniture if in good, removable condition. Non-removable/bespoke elements or damaged items may be excluded after assessment. Large appliances and worktops are assessed case-by-case. Most are eligible; others may be excluded due to condition, safety or removal risk.
Q: Typical timelines from enquiry to funds released?
A: A general sequence includes: assessment → marketing survey/listing → resale → removal → funds released – with exact timings varying by project.
Q: What happens if a kitchen isn’t suitable?
A: Sellers receive alternative guidance with the option for ethical removal and recycling so projects can still proceed with a sustainable conclusion.
This will ensure that 100% of the existing kitchen does not go to landfill.
Q: How are proceeds paid, and do showrooms receive anything?
A: Proceeds of the sale are paid to the seller after completion; a referral fee for the recommender is in place and is paid quarterly: options include payment to the showroom, designer or a donation to charity of the recommender's choice. Recommenders will also receive a quarterly carbon and tree saving certificate which is fully verified by Rehome’s Eco Carbon Inventory calculator.
Q: Are there any geographical limits?
A: In principle, the Rehome Plus scheme is available UK-wide, although lead times and access constraints can affect scheduling in some areas.
